New owners and new venues add up to and all-new and altogether hot MIR for 2010.
Yes, a 13 year old dog can learn new tricks and man was that clear last night as the all-new Mr International Rubber kicked in to high gear yesterday in Chicago.
The big dog of the rubber contests moved out of it's long-time home at the Cell Block bar and in to definitely more upscale digs at the Gay and Lesbian Center on Halstead. Great space and a fantastic venue for the MIR scene.
The first day of the 3-day weekend kicked off with the hugely expanded vendor market featuring everything from cat suits to cat-o-nine-tails. But holding center court, literally since this is a gymnasium after all, was the huge pile of gear and play equipment brought in by KinkRubber. The play possibilities were endless and went on all afternoon.
Day rolled in to night and the gear factor ratcheted up a big notch as everyone hit the Center again for the Greet the Meat cocktail party. Boys, butts and bevies for a couple of hours and then Part 1 of the contest slid in to action.
Go Go Eddie had the emcee honors again this year and ran things in his usual raucous and randy style. Some guys thought the contest would be a little tamer this year since it wasn't being held in a bar, but luckily, not the case. We even had our own Superbowl-esque wardrobe malfunction when Contestant #6 Rubber Skin Boy demonstrated his kink of pulling balls on Go Go Eddie and ended up pulling off Eddie's codpiece. And we got to see more than a nanosecond of something way more interesting than Ms. Jackson's boob.
There are seven very hot contestants this year. They drew their numbers from the lucky rubber boot and ended up in this order; #1 Jeffrey - Mr West Coast Rubber 2009, #2 Scott - Mr Hotlanta Rubber 2009, #3 Alan - Mr Southeast Rubber 2009, #4 Fenn - Mr Toronto Rubber 2009, #5 Tim from Texas, #6 Rubber Skin Boy from New York, and #7 Junya - Mr Midwest Rubber 2009.
Eddie worked the guys through the introductions, including some very revealing kink questions and then after a quick break brought them back one at a time to read their fantasies to the crowd. Very kinky stuff these guys came up with.
After a few thank yous from the new owners Kink Rubber and Rubberwilli, it was time to turn everyone loose to head off to the Cell Block and then later to the Steam Works for the Rubber Play Party.
