Another leather bar bites the dust
The Charlotte Eagle closed this week just after celebrating its 8th anniversary. Read the goodbye note from the owners.
This highlights why it's so critical that we gear up and get out to support our leather bars and clubs. Leatherati challenges each of you to stop bitching about our leather bars dying and to get out and do something about it. How about doing an event, not a fundraiser, just a single night each month to get people off their butts and into their gear and out to the bar to meet real people face to face.
The hunt is on for Patrick Brooks
Sydney Star Observer is looking for Patrick Brooks, the only Australian to ever win the International Mr Leather competition.
Brooks won the IML title in 1980, the second year of the competition.
The 25 Year History of IML reports that in 1981 Patrick and his unnamed sponsor sought to establish a competition in Sydney called International Mr Leather. It is reported that Sydney Star Observer was instrumental in helping him see the bigger picture and the local contest did not proceed.
Now that Australia stages an annual event to send a representative to Chicago each year, they are keen to find out if Patrick is still alive or, if not, to acknowledge his contribution to the history of Australia’s leather community.
If you have details about Patrick’s whereabouts email editor@starobserver.com.au with Patrick Brooks in the subject line.
Ms SF Leather is back!
In case you missed it, the Ms SF Leather contest has arisen from the ashes. After a 10 year absence, the Ms. San Francisco Leather contest returned with a 21st Century energy on Saturday night, October 17, at the Blue Macaw Bistro and Night Club! As the contest advertising said, “The Bitch is Back!”
Five awesome contestants vied for the honor of representing San Francisco’s Leather community. Angel, Miss Max, Tracy Wolf, Mizz Sammy, and Mollena Williams put on a show that left the crowd saying “great show! We want more!” Jody, the contest producer explained that this is a different sort of contest and that while a titleholder would be chosen at the end of the evening, all of the contestants were now a part of the Ms. San Francisco Leather family.
Great to see the title alive again!
