Where have all the (fill in the blank) bars gone?
I was reading an article in Xtra West the other day by Karen Tulchinsky titled "Where have all the dyke bars gone" and realized that we all have the same complaint: Where have our dyke, leather, bear, levi, country, etc bars disappeared to?
In city after city it's the same story - bars might have patrons but there's either no dress code or the bar is so mixed (women, men, het, etc.) that you can't tell if it's a leather bar or a TGI Fridays. With the rare exception of a contest or a specialty night the bars all look the same.

Maybe Bears have the answers!
I run across a lot of events for Bears in places as diverse as Puerto Vallarta and Indianapolis. Are the bears the ascendant life form in the kink kingdom? Hmmm....
Here's another fun one for you - Bears Empire 2010 in Rome, Italy from January 1 - 6, 2010. From the website: Bears Empire 2010 promises to be a fun filled event with numerous activities such as: a disco party, bear sauna, tours to visit Rome, happy hour and group dinners for a week of total relaxation among the company of so many other bears and hunters.
Yes the Castro lives in Barcelona
We stumbled across this cozy, SM industrial-themed restaurant the last time were were in Barcelona. Castro Restaurant at 85 Calle Casanova is one hot place. The night we were there they were doing a "Lover's Dinner" with a fabulous prix fixe menu that included tenderloin of kanagaroo among other delectable selections.
Be sure to check it out and make sure to chat up the leather dude owner and maybe get a "personal" introduction to one of our favorite cities.
