Hey everybody!
Earlier this week Leatherati was the victim of a malware attack. The nefarious no-gooders got in through a previously unknown security breach in our ad server application called OpenX. They were able to get some code on to our server that attempted to redirect visitors to another site. We're not sure what the intent was beyond that.
Luckily we were notified pretty quickly by a Google scan of the site and we disabled the ad server immediately. I'm sure a number of you saw the ominous looking malware alert page that Google put up. Once we had the site cleaned we requested a re/scan of the site which came back clean and Google removed the warning page.
So, we're back in business and thank you for your patience. It's not much consolation but a ton of other sites using the same ad server were also attacked. OpenX has just released a new version with a security patch in place. We've done the upgrade and we're awaiting confirmation that the system is secure before we turn it back on. In the meantime...no ads!
Again, thanks for your patience and sorry for any scare you might have gotten. It's a good reminder though to keep your malware detection software on your home PCs up to date.
And now back to the good stuff!
