Southwest Leather Conference Wrap Up - What a Weekend!

The Leatherati team blogged live from the Southwest Leather Conference in Phoenix, AZ over the weekend of January 20 - 22, 2012.

This was our first time attending the annual SWLC weekend but I can tell you for sure it won't be our last.  What a great event!  Friendly people, great energy, top-notch presenters, excellent food and multiple play parties throughout the weekend make this a must-do conference and it's a fantastic value as well.

ILSb/ICBB Judges Announced

The producers of International LeatherSIR, Leatherboy & Community Bootblack just announced their judges for 2012.

Seattle Boot Weekend 2012

Do you have your calendar marked for Seattle Boot Weekend 2012?  The 2012 weekend runs from Friday, February 24 through Sunday, February 26th 2012.

The producers are looking for presenters who are interested in presenting a workshop.  If you're interested, please send a workshop proposal to: bootweekendnw@gmail.com.  Workshop proposals should focus on boot or leather care.  The deadline for workshop submissions is December 31st, 2011.  For each workshop, please include the title, a 250 word synopsis of the workshop, a list of any requirements (e.g. whiteboard, projector screen) and an optional long description of the workshop to be posted to the website.  Workshop presenters will receive free admission to the Saturday workshops and play party.

Seattle Boot Weekend 2012 will begin with the official Meet and Greet at The Cuff Complex (1533 13th Avenue, Seattle, (206) 323 1525, www.cuffcomplex.com) from 7 PM - 11 PM on Friday, Feb 24.  Out of town and local bootblacks and boot fetishists will meet and mingle at the bar on Friday evening with plenty of bootblack stands on hand to accommodate the bootblacks who will be attending.

Southeast Black and Blue 2012

The producers of Southeast Black and Blue announced the dates of the 2012 contest weekend.  They have coordinated with the dates of local LGBT events in the Atlanta, GA area and have moved the dates of Southeast Black and Blue Weekend 2012 to August 10-11, 2012.  

The weekend will include the contests for Southeast LeatherSIR 2013, Southeast Leatherboy 2013, Southeast Community Bootblack 2013, and Mr. Southeast Rubber 2013 as well as other exciting events TBA.

10:00 am – Introduction to Bootblacking with Tarna, BBT 2012

The day will begin with a discussion of the origins of bootblacking within the Leather community and without, how to identify wax boots, product options and basic care; followed by a demonstration of a basic brush shine.

11:00 pm – Introduction to Lacing with Master Jack - ICBB2008

Together we will look at the five most common styles of lacing and discuss the benefits of each as well as when, where and how to best use each one. 

12:00 am –The Five Day Spit Shine with black, BBT 2002

There is nothing like a perfectly spit shined boot, and few do this better than black. This is a rare treat to learn the tricks he's spent a lifetime perfecting to obtain a beautiful mirror finish on the boots in your care.

1:00 pm – Lunch Break

1:30 pm to 3:00 pm – Skill Share and Practice Session

A chance to sit down with other bootblacks of varying degrees of experience and skill, to practice what you've learned so far and build on your current skill base.

Don't miss The Leather Masked Ball this weekend on Friday November 26.  The event features 3 DJ’s in 3 spaces, a separate VIP lounge, outdoor chill area off the main floor, hundreds of geared up leatherfolk getting down and sweaty, The Leather Masked Ball SIX is the event of the year! 

The VIP lounge is the place to be!  Located in the former ICON storefront, the VIP lounge has BOOM’s own DJ Richie Rich working up a sweat!  VIP’s party with complimentary cocktails courtesy of Bud Light, Pisco Porton and Zyr Vodka, and hors d’ouvres provided by The Courtyard Café.  VIP lounge also has 2 bootblacks on duty, a puppy play pen and a full schedule of BDSM entertainment. 

The main floor is sure to be a musical journey with DJ/Producer John LePage from San Francisco.  John’s extensive list of events includes The Black and Blue Ball (Montreal), White Party (Miami), LazyBear Weekend (Guerneville), The Factory (Los Angeles), The Onyx Ball (Toronto),  and Folsom Street East (NYC).  Live BDSM entertainment is also provided by the 2011 International titleholders, LeatherSIR Alan Penrod and leatherboy pup nitro.  

The front room has DJ JimmyP bringing his style from years at The Eagle and Tunnel in NYC, as well as Ft Lauderdale’s Eagle and Chainz.  Also in the front room, the ever popular silent auction is showcasing many items and services donated by local businesses.  Peruse the tables to find that perfect item you’ve always wanted.

Tickets are General Admission - $30 in advance/$35 at door, VIP -$45 in advance, $50 at door.  Tickets are available online at www.leathermaskedball.org and are also on sale at Leatherwerks Main Store and at the Ramrod, Tropixx Video and Gaymart.    

SWLC Judges Announced

Two panels of fabulous judges have been selected for the two hot contests to be held at Southwest Leather Conference. 

2012 will mark the tenth annual Southwest Master/slave Contest. This event celebrates the Master / slave dynamic and is a positive outreach effort to the community at large in an effort to educate and build upon  healthy Master/slave relationships. The contest is for couples who self identify as Master/slave regardless of age, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

Southeast Black & Blue Weekend

The Atlanta community threw open its doors to the first-ever Southeast Black and Blue Weekend September 30 - October 2.

Produced by newly sashed International LeatherSIR Alan Penrod and International Leatherboy Pup Nitro, the weekend was set up to encompass the SE LeatherSIR/boy, SE Community Bootblack and Mr Southeast Rubber contests.  Plus, of course, all of the cruising and playing you can pack in to the weekend!

Friday officially kicked off the weekend at the Atlanta Eagle with technical skills review and interview of the single Bootblack contestant Girl Dale followed by the Judges' interview of Jamie, the MSER contestant.  Jamie's interview involved a LOT of yellow references :-)

A few of the Judges, Judges boy Dana, G-Man (MIR 2011), Boi Jen (Florida Community Bootblack 2011) and Ms Kitty headed out for dinner....and martinis!  Gotta keep up the strength for judging you know.

After a little break it was back to the Eagle for the Meet and Greet and lots of schmoozing chased down with truly devious demos and spontaneous play.  It was inspirational watching Sir Alan and Insatiable Amazon tag team on slave scott with the violet wand.  Nice!
