Interview with slave Alia

Editor's note  - We attended Southwest Leather Conference for the first time this year - see our coverage in Leatherati Live - and had a fantastic time.  We met some great people in the scene, including slave Alia.  I knew I wanted to interview her the minute I realized that she is a conservative Muslim, who is in service as a slave to a gay man.  There had to be a story there, and there is, a fascinating one in fact which slave Alia tells with clarity and a full recognition of the irony which drew me in.  

Aside from the focus of this interview, slave Alia has a full and successful history in the community which could consume a dozen more interviews!  Actually this turned out to be our longest video interview to date. I tried to edit but the story she weaves is to cohesive to lose an of it.  I do have to apologize however for the quality of the video about midpoint in the interview.  The focus went haywire and it looks like we went to soft focus, a la Marlene Dietrich.  But you'll enjoy anyway.

Interview with Justin Cook of Breaking Glass Pictures

Editor's note - we've been following the fortunes of the IML documentary, Kink Crusaders, for a couple of years now.  The independent film, produced by Mike Skiff of Third Rail Media, has enjoyed tremendous success at festivals around the world and was recently picked up for distrubution by Breaking Glass Pictures.  We recently caught up with Justin Cook, Social Media & Press Coordinator to talk about indie films and the upcoming DVD release of Kink Crusaders.

Loren:  Hi Justin, thank you for joining us today on Leatherati.com.  Why don't you tell us a little about Breaking Glass Pictures

Justin:  Sure, we opened about 2 1/2 years ago.  My employers are both 30 year veterans in the business and we specialize in independent cinema.  Primarily in Horror, LGBT and Documentaries.  We've had a lot of success in those areas and I'm looking forward to Kink Crusaders. 

L:  That's an interesting mix of genres.  

J:  It's even more interesting when they get intermixed.  For instance, Kink Crusaders is an LGBT documentary and we've had horror documentaries.  We've had gay horror films.  It's a very interesting mix that we have going on.

L:  Is that because you saw a niche which you felt needed to be addressed?  Or did you just create your own niche?

J:  We like films that push the envelope and I actually saw Kink Crusaders at QFest.  I was blow away because it's nothing like what I expected.   

Mama Sandy Interview on Jed Central

Almost everybody knows about Mama's Family, a diverse group of leather-affiliated folks from around the globe.  The Mama's Family Photos, which take place at almost every leather event these days, are legendary.

And yep, I'm proud to be Mama's Rubber Daddy!

Interview with Mike Skiff - Director "Kink Crusaders"

We had a chance to catch up with Mike Skiff of Third Rail Media about his IML documentary Kink Crusaders and other projects.

Kink Crusaders has been getting great play at film festivals around the world and in fact was shown at Out On Film in Atlanta this past weekend as well as the Portland Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.  

Upcoming showings of the film are scheduled for Tampa and Albuquerque on October 8 and the Los Angeles premiere on October 14th as a part of the CineKink festival.

Our long-time buddy Will Clark, of Bad Boys Pool Party fame (infamy?) relocated to NYC to terrorize the east coast boyz a few years ago and we finally caught up with him to find out what he's been up to.
