MIR 2012 Recap

OMG. It was fabulous.

I arrived on Thursday night and immediately met a flurry of activity. I stopped by the community center to speak to a friend of mine and saw the set up activities. Those vendors and the Chicago rubbermen were working hard.

Friday was a fabulous kick off to the kink market. It was really very full! Lots of vendors around selling their rubber wear from around the world. I particularly enjoyed the display by Full Kit Gear of Boston, MA. Unfortunately they don't have a store website up yet, but I really enjoyed their color variations on blue, red, green...their latex was very unique! I'll definitely be keeping up with their website to see when they've posted a store. RECON also debuted their new line of signature latex, which honestly, looked pretty hot! TLS and E7 were there as well showing their always fabulous wear.

One of my favorite parts of the kink market is the demo pit, including gear provided by KinkRubber. RubberKai was the demo pit coordinator this year, and he did a fabulous job of starting and maintaining scenes, encouraging people to try something new, and keep the energy levels high. RubberKai is also a member of the Chicago Rubbermen, whom, by the way, I cannot say enough about! The members of that group pour a lot of their time and energy into producing an absolutely amazing event, and to dedicate the amount of time and energy they have deserves a gigantic rubber Thank You from all of us.

News to Abuse: Mr Regiment - PS Leather Pride - MIR

Mr Regiment

On Saturday, October 15th, the Los Angeles Eagle was butt cheek to butt cheek with guys in breeches and fatigues for the annual Mr Regiment contest.

Sponsored by the Regiment of the Black and Tans, the contest kicked off at 22:30 with 3 excellent men competing for the title:  #1 Chris Novy, #2 Keith Compton and #3 Marlon Morales.  Contestants had been grilled earlier in the day in their pre-judging and were ready for their onstage competition in formal wear and speech, fetish wear and question, and the popular commando and fantasy section.

The producers tapped previous Mr Regiment title holders as the judges for the contest.  They were:  Ross Wood (Mr Regiment 2008 and Mr LA Leather 2008), Alex Lindsay (Mr Regiment 2009 and American Leatherman 2009), Brad Taylor (Mr Regiment 2010 and Mr LA Leather 2010), and Leo Iriarte (Mr Regiment 2011 and Mr LA Leather 2011).  You can see that the Mr Regiment winners consistently go on to great things!

The standing orders of the Regiment for their contest are to have a hot and sexy time and leave the politics at home.  These guys sure did deliver!  By the way, your very own Leatherati Editor in Chief Loren Berthelsen (also a Deputy Member of the Regiment) was the emcee for the evening.

When the votes came in, #2 Keith Compton was second-runner-up, #1 Chris Novy was first-runner-up, and #3 Marlon Morales was named the new Mr Regiment.  Marlon will go on to compete at Mr LA Leather in March 2012.

Announcing Mr TORN 2012

The men of TORN (Toronto Ontario Rubbermen Network) just announced their inaugural Mr. TORN 2012 Competition on Saturday August 6th, 2011 on the patio of the Black Eagle.

Major Prizes will be awarded to the winner including return airfare to Chicago in November 2011 for the MIR 2012 (Mr. International Rubber) Competition. Plus MIR Weekend Passes and many other RUBBER items to represent TORN for the International title!

Runner Ups will also win several great items!!!

Wrap Up - Mr International Rubber 2010

MIR 2010 wrap up - tight like a rubber sleepsack pig!

Leatherati was in Chicago for MIR 2010 covering all the action, and trust us, there WAS action.  If you were there, you know how hot it was.  If you followed the blow by blow on Leatherati, then you've got a pretty good idea, but if you missed it entirely you better mark the calendar now for MIR 2011. 

This was hands-down one of the best fetish weekends we've attended.  It was all about the energy and that's why we really like rubber events.  Guys are friskier at events like this and the play going on was pretty much non-stop all weekend.  MIR is on the way to becoming a major event on the kink calendar so hitch on and take the ride!

Canada is on a Roll!

Fenn, Mr Toronto Rubber 2009, makes it three in a row for the Canadians.

Attendees at the second night of the Mr International Rubber 2010 contest were greeted by a caged baseball gear guy and then each person walked the paparazzi rubber carpet as they gathered to help select the new MIR.  The rubber was hot and hotter!

Finally we were all seated and ready for part 2 of the contest.  Once again we were in the great theatre at the Center On Halstead.  On tap last night were the contestant questions and the "mystery bag" fetish segment.
