The Regiment's GRUNT party hot as usual!
Those uniformed guys from The Regiment of the Black and Tans really know how to throw a party - and a contest! The 35-year-old Los Angles-based uniform club is known (infamous?) for their event production skills and can take it from high society, a la their recent over the top anniversary party at the LA Athletic Club, to down and dirty like last night's Grunt party.
The night kicked off with the Mr Regiment contest to select the 2010 club titleholder, who will go on to compete at Los Angeles Leather in March. Producer Robert Blackmon likes to run a tight schedule so everybody can get to the other diversions, like the dark room and cigar lounge. Last night was fast a furious with Emcee Pup Don of Avatar running (almost literally) the single contestant Brad Taylor through the required segments of the contest.
Brad was required to garner a minimum number of points in each section; pre-judging, formal leather and speech, judge's question and "commando". As Tallymaster Tom Wang, Mr Christopher West Leather 2007 revealed the final result via laptop to Pup Don, no one in the audience has the slightest doubt that Brad had brought it home.
Outgoing Mr Regiment 2009, Alex Lindsay, who was also selected as American Leatherman 2009 earlier this year, shared some thoughts about his year as Mr Regiment and his efforts to bring more kink back in to the community and our events. A round of thanks from Alex and it was time for the reveal. Or at least the reveal of the scores since we'd already been treated to Brad's reveal during the "commando" portion of the contest.
The judges; Head Judge George Wong, Mr Los Angeles Leather 2009 Ken Hearst, and American Leatherman 2009 Alex Lindsay, were pleased to confirm that Brad had turned in the winning performance.
Congratulations to Brad Taylor, Mr Regiment 2010! Brad was welcomed to the LA Band of Brothers by fellow titleholders, Mike Gerle IML 2007, Alex Lindsay American Leatherman 2009, Ken Hearst Mr LA Leather 2009, Franco Perrotta LA Leather Bear 2009, Ernesto Provencio Mr Ashram West Leather 2009, Jasun Mark Eagle LA MR Leather 2009, Louis Pacheco CSW Leather 2010, JR Raymond Mr Sanctuary Leather 2008 and Tom Wang CSW Leather 2007.
After the requisite pictures and posings it was back to the Grunt party which was already in full and sexy gear. Cigars, huge back room featuring the Suck Plex, and an open bar manned by the guys from The Bullet in North Hollywood kept everyone amused til the small hours.
Kudos for another seriously hot and fun event and a big hoo rah for Brad as he becomes the second titleholder selected in the LA Leather title season for 2010.
